Ashland’s Marathon Park gets a new sign
Ashland once again shared the Boston Marathon spotlight this morning when officials pulled the tarp off a shiny new sign in Marathon Park.
“We have a jewel here,” said state Sen. Karen Spilka, D-Ashland, at the dedication ceremony.
Ashland resident Lou Mancini carved the blue sign, which shows five runners in full stride and prominently marks the park’s entrance on Pleasant Street. Ashland is home of the original starting line of the race, when it began in 1897.
